Resource Monitoring

Sentinel will monitor any supported application, simulating users accessing the application, for 24 hours a day.

If during the monitoring, the response times are not acceptable and/or errors that don’t normally occur start appearing, the first question you will ask is “what is causing these problems?”.

Sentinel’s resource monitoring capability can monitor all aspects of the system hosting the monitored application, so that when problems are detected, their cause can be immediately identified in the Sentinel Controller or Viewer GUI using the “Correlate with Resource Monitors” feature.

Resource Monitor Packs provide pre-configured, yet extendable, monitors for a particular technology (the Oracle Resource Monitor Pack provides all the monitors that are required for monitoring Oracle database systems pre-configured).

Sentinel performs all the steps of a business transaction that your users will do. For example, for an online bookstore, the Sentinel simulated transaction will search for books, look at a book's detail, maybe loop a few times, add it to a cart and proceed through checkout.

Sentinel can thus be used to provide SLA statistics and also monitor historical trends; allowing understanding of which times of the day, week, month or year provide the best and worst response times, use the least and most network, etc.
